Border Patrol Agents Seize $300K Worth of Cocaine
WESTMORLAND, Calif. - Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio station seized a substantial amount of cocaine at the Highway 86 checkpoint near Westmorland.
A Ford Pickup truck approached the inspection area, a Border Patrol K9 team alerted agents to the vehicle and a 32-year-old U.S. citizen was referred for a secondary inspection.
After a quick search of the vehicle, agents discovered several concealed packages of cocaine located inside a non-factory compartment.
The cocaine has an estimated value of $300,000.
The driver, passenger, vehicle and 10 pounds of cocaine were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The driver and passenger's names were not released.
