Failed Federal Operation Inflames Gun Control Debate
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Is it true that 90 percent of the drug crimes in Mexico involve weapons purchased in the U.S.?
It's difficult to prove that number -- but it's a known fact that the U.S. is fertile ground for Mexican gun runners.
But is that reason enough to implement stricter gun laws?
The issue is heating up in the wake of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's death earlier this year.
He was killed by smugglers -- the weapon used was one that had been purchased from U.S. federal agents in an undercover operation.
Operation Fast and Furious was a failure after the agents lost track of the buyers and the guns.
Now politicians are attempting to spin the "Fast and Furious" controversy to their political advantage.
FOX's William La Jeunesse has the story.
