Phoenix man convicted of smuggling heroin

YUMA, Ariz. — A federal jury has found a Phoenix man guilty of smuggling five kilograms of heroin through a port of entry in the Arizona community of San Luis.
The Yuma Sun reports that 23-year-old Miguel Quintero was found guilty Thursday of importation of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute after a three-day trial.
He faces a minimum penalty of 20 years and a maximum penalty of life in prison when he is sentenced on Jan. 23.
Authorities say Quintero had more than five kilograms of heroin concealed in his vehicle's drive shaft when he tried to enter the United States.
