Narco communication system found near Valley of Juárez

The Mexican army seized an illegal radio communication system and weapons near the village of Praxedis G. Guerrero as part of an anti-drug operation in the Valley of Juárez, military officials said Wednesday.

The military said in a statement that the system allowed for communication for a distance of nearly 50 miles on mobile radios. Among the equipment seized were a radio repeater, a UHF antenna, solar cells and eight radios.

The communication system plus six rifles, ammunition and a tactical vest with a homemade metal armor were seized Sunday at the San Antonio ranch south of Praxedis G. Guerrero, which is located across the border from the Tornillo area. There were no arrests announced.
